Welcome to the Latin America homepage of the Methodist GLOBAL EDUCATION FUND for Leadership Development. In 2009, the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry and the General Council of Methodist Institutes of Education signed a partnership agreement to provide leadership training and technical support to 120 Methodist educational institutions that enroll 95,000 students in Central and South America. Your donation to support the Latin America Region would help ensure students receive access to Christian education classes and training.

The Methodist GLOBAL EDUCATION FUND for Leadership Development Office in Latin America serves as a regional hub, providing technical assistance, exchange program, and scholarships in 10 countries in Latin America. In partnership with regional organizations such as the Council of Evangelical Methodist Churches of Latin America and the Caribbean (CIEMAL), the General Board of Global Ministries (GBGM) and other organizations, the Latin America Regional Office has invested in the development of Christian leaders. The regional office has offered leadership development seminars for clergy and lay leaders; promoted fundraising seminars for educational leaders; and provided institutional support to schools, colleges, seminaries and universities in several countries. With your help, we will train additional Christian leaders to share the gospel in Latin America.

Background

Marked by a history of colonialism and military dictatorship, Latin America has experienced a stability and economic growth since 1985. However, many challenges related to the long history of poverty remain. Research indicates that more than a third of the regional population still lives in conditions of poverty.

Methodist educational institutions in Latin America are well organized in national associations that bring together schools, colleges and universities in each country. These associations are connected to the Latin American Association of Methodist Educational Institutions. The Methodist GLOBAL EDUCATION FUND Regional office works closely with ALAIME, especially supporting universities in this region and integrating them in projects for leadership development.
