With a population estimated at 113,424,000, the literacy rate in Mexico is 91 percent. The Methodist Church in Mexico consists of six Episcopal areas with 525 local churches and 150,000 members.
The church is involved in Christian education, theological education and higher education. The system is comprised of nine schools, three colleges and one university, which enrolls 7,600 students.
Methodist educational institutions maintain very high standards and have an exceptional reputation. Students, 70 percent of whom are Catholic, are involved in social and community services. Approximately 25-30 percent earn scholarship support. One-quarter of high school graduates enroll in higher education.
